Welcome to Fretz Middle School!  What does middle school mean for our families & students?  A middle school program addresses the unique developmental needs of children from 11 to 14 years of age.  We have a 6th, 7th, 8th, and Dream Team group of teachers who meet on a regular basis to offer the best program possible.  Our students take reading, English, math, history, and science classes daily.  They rotate among music, gym, family & consumer sciences, French, Spanish, Foreign Cultures, art, & technology education classes.  Students have the opportunity to take chorus, band, jazz band, & show choir.  They may also join student council, art, builder's club, the yearbook committee, or work in the school store.  As 7th & 8th graders, they have the opportunity to participate in sports such as track and field, cross country, basketball, volleyball, soccer, or football.

Our students' needs at this age are different from those of children in elementary and in high school, so a blended program is necessary to meet the intellectual, physical, and social needs of our students.  As students enter middle school, they gain more responsibility with a locker, a class schedule to follow, & an assignment notebook/agenda to maintain.  Many students report that they enjoy delving into new topics such as robotics, pottery, & cooking with their specials or Dream Team classes.

Strong home & school communication is necessary to support students through their middle school experience.  Parents may check their children's grades & assignments on Eschool Book.  Maintaining communication via emails & phone calls is an important part of the experience.

We look forward to working with you during your child's middle school years.
